This is an amazing series of photos Alex Wypyszinski took last May in Yellowstone. The bear didn't catch it but the bison had been so burned that the rangers had to put it down. They think it may have been burned by one of the geysers or thermal pools. Wypszinski just happened to be driving down the road when he saw this coming. I know its what happens in nature but holy cow. To have it happen right in front of you? Huge bison coming at you at 25 mph. Then comes the bear! Who do your root for? The bear to get a meal so he won't starve? The bison to get away? But if the bison got away would you be able to get away from the bear if he decided you were an easier meal?
